The Skiffy Rivets harmonies are a full time job for the three hard-working vocalists as they reach out with their unique blend of songs borrowed from Americana, bluegrass, folk, and swing.
This month The Fold gets a special preview show before the Skiffy Rivets appearance at the Wellington Folk Festival at Labour Weekend.
If you haven’t been to The Fold yet, you are in for a treat. Run by the amazing Julie Lamb, The Fold is an intimate theatre style space in Webb St, Wellington. It has a fabulous sound and lighting system that means you can enjoy the music without being distracted by coffee grinders or whatever.
The idea for a great Saturday evening is this: come to the show from 6-8pm then wander down Cuba St and have a meal at one of the quirky cafes.
Creating the show are singers Holly Carrington, Sue Tearne, and Pete Parnham who also provides the backdrop of acoustic and slide guitars. As the set builds, guest Cathy Dyer will also add her upright bass to the mix.
You’ll find a Skiffy Rivets set never dwells for long in one place, as they shift gears and genres effortlessly with songs that will move you, make you laugh, have you singing and tapping your toes.
The Skiffy Rivets' live studio CD Elbow Room has the same effect, with it becoming many listeners saying it is their favourite road trip CD - always making the miles go faster and putting a smile on their face.
