The world is the midst of the largest refugee crisis in history. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates that there are currently around 65 million people worldwide who have been forcibly displaced from their homes.

This talk will challenge a number of common assumptions about the crisis including how it is portrayed, what the causes of it are and how we should address it. It will suggest that not only is our current international system incapable of fixing the crisis but that it is, in fact, one of the key reasons we have a crisis in the first place, and one of the biggest barriers to resolving it.
