Part of Conservation Week 2019 - conservationweek.org.nz

Celebrate 50 years of Conservation Week by volunteering!

9:15am meet the Department of Conservation Rangers at Tuahu Track and join in with Track Maintenance in the Kaimai

Entrance to Tuahu Track is accessed from the car park at the End of Hot Springs Road.

Before entering the track, you will be shown how to use the Kauri protection wash station for your shoes and any tools containing soil.

Find out first hand how DOC’s Kauri Dieback Recreation Project is preventing the spread of kauri dieback on public conservation land.

Volunteer and experience being part of a Department of Conservation (DOC) team. Learn on-the-job skills and knowledge required for mitigating waterflow on a track.

Play your part in keeping public tracks attractive and protecting Kauri trees. Key tasks include digging with spades, clearing drainage and culverts, lopping overhanging branches and using a grubber to improve the track surface.

Volunteers are invaluable, join in and you'll be protecting New Zealand native flora and fauna.

Transport can be provided with the Department of Conservation from 253 Chadwick Rd, Greerton (Tauranga) to Tuahu Track, Hot Springs Road (South of Katikati).

Rangers will be departing Tauranga at 8:15am and seats are limited. Register before the 16th of September if transport is required.

Contact: nlunson@doc.govt.nz to register.
