In Newtown parking is available on Crawford Road, Coromandel Street and Hiropi Street.

Once parked, you can safely walk to the site via the Southern walkway. Wellington City Council Park Rangers will direct traffic before the planting starts.

Please stack up any plant trays and pots and bring them and your spade, if you borrow one, back to the BBQ area when you are finished.

Health and Safety- Wellington City Council will do a health and safety briefing on site before the planting starts. The main points to remember are that the planting area might be slippery, so please be careful on the ground and stabilise yourself when you are digging. Please take regular breaks and don’t overdo it!

How to plant - Wellington City Council will do a planting demonstration before the planting starts but if you’d like some pre-information then check out the Trees That Count video on how to Plant Like a Ninja - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYSA4EFSoXg

Site hazards - There will be a first aid station at the planting site but site hazards may include:
- Uneven ground – slips and trips
- Sloping ground which may be wet
- Spades
- Walkers and bikers sharing the tracks

Children - Please make sure that children are supervised by adults at all times.

Supervisors - There will be supervisors, wearing Hi-Viz vests, to help you with planting and with health and safety. Feel free to go and find one on site if you need assistance.

Toilets - There will be a portaloo on site for use during the event.

Food and drinks - The Peninsula Preschool will be providing a free sausage sizzle after the planting, with a mix of meat, vegetarian and halal options. There will also be a coffee cart on site so please have your first coffee on Trees That Count.

Keep your fingers crossed for sun, the planting will go ahead whatever the weather!

Finally, have a great day out and enjoy the morning, we look forward to seeing you there!
