There is so much darkness and secrecy surrounding them, like the Bermuda Triangle." With humour and grace, this iconic, groundbreaking piece celebrates women's sexuality and strength. A benefit performance raising funds for the charity Shine.

"Probably the most important piece of political theater of the last decade." - Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

In 1994, a play called The Vagina Monologues written by playwright and activist Eve Ensler shattered taboos, offering the world a piece of art like nothing it had seen before, creating new conversations about and with women. The play gave birth to V-Day, a global activist movement whose mission is to end violence against all women and girls.

As part of V-Day, Eve Ensler encourages the production of The Vagina Monologues with all profits going to local organisations who share this mission. This production will benefit Shine, whose mission is to stop domestic abuse in New Zealand. In particular, it is supporting KIDShine, a free and practical service for children traumatised by family violence.

For over 20 years, V-Day activists around the world have worked tirelessly to end harassment, rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation, and sex slavery. Today, the stakes could not be higher for this urgent work. In solidarity with #MeToo and #TimesUp, we believe women. We believe in their right to tell their stories and we believe women’s stories need to be heard – nothing is more powerful and empowering.

Come, be part of this unique event that is so much more than a play: It’s a revolutionary call for action to stop the violence now. Join us!
