All are welcome to our June 22nd pot luck with special guest speaker Dr Anthony Raizis talking on ‘Legitimising Veganism and Treeganism in the fight against Climate Change’.

There is a rapidly growing awareness of the need to declare a climate emergency. Veganism and reforestation have the potential to make a significant impact towards preventing climate catastrophe, as well as restoring precious biodiversity, protecting fresh water supplies. These issues will be discussed along with some of the practical difficulties in restoring a New Zealand native woodland.

Dr Raizis received his PhD at Otago University. His research interests are in cancer genetics research and diagnostics, the molecular mechanisms associated with the onset of cancer, genetic diseases, nutrition and ageing. Dr Raizis also has a keen interest in environmental issues, and sustainability.

Please bring a vegan dish to share and your own drinks. If you are stuck for ideas on what to bring, check out our recipe page veganchristchurch.org.nz/cool-stuff/recipes/

Or if you would prefer, buy something from New World South City - they have a wide range of vegan baked goods and off the shelf dishes/food items. Please ask us if you want help thinking of what to bring.

Everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring a friend.

Cost: $3 towards room hire (kids free) - if $3 is too much for you, please contact us and we will sort it. We want everyone to be able to come.

Parking: free off street car parking is available in the church car park or on street
