We are excited to be joined by American violist Felix Ungar to bring you - Viola Extravaganza.
The evening will start off with Hindemith's Trauermusik, a suite written for viola and a string orchestra. The suite was written in memory of King George's death, its title translating to "Mourning Music" in German. The piece evokes beautiful rich melodies, perfectly encapsulated with the sweet tones of the Viola.
We then move onto Sitt's Concertstück, a contemporary viola piece that is full of virtuosic lyrical qualities. Finally, we will end the evening with the ever popular Symphony No. 40 in G minor by Mozart.
Proceeds from this concert will go towards Starship Foundation, a cause dedicated to helping young New Zealanders and their families in times of need.
