The 2019 Volume Mapua Literary Festival is a boutique literary festival featuring some of New Zealand’s best and most interesting writers. Organised by Volume, the 2018 New Zealand Bookshop of the Year, the festival continues the series of literary events held in Mapua to benefit the Mapua Community Library. All ticket sales benefit the library.
When four children temporarily lose their parents just as they are about to begin the race that offers a chance of escaping poverty, they go it alone and learn a lot about themselves—and the adult world—in the process. Come and hear Eirlys talk about this wonderful book.
Eirlys Hunter has worked behind a bar, as a primary school teacher, cleaning a cliff-top fort, sorting mail, and sending sand to Saudi Arabia. She has written children’s books and teaches writing for children.
Eirlys will be in conversation with her editor Jude Watson.
