Each year over Mothers Day weekend, the Waimumu Art Exhibition is held, attracting new, emerging and established artists from around New Zealand. 2019 marks our 10th annual Exhibition.
We work hard to display our exhibitiors work professionally, and have a steady flow of visitors through the door. Not only does our Exhibition utilise our local hall, but it also provides a great venue for artists to display their work. This is a unique project as it encourages emerging artists to showcase their works alongside established artists.
Our guest artist this year is Mel McKenzie. Mel paints from a rustic studio on their family farm in Seaward Downs – despite being rurally-based in the deep south of NZ, Mel’s art enables her to maintain contact with the rest of the world through connections made via social media and her Etsy shop.
We are just a 10 minute drive from Gore; and central to people in Southland and Otago; based in the Waimumu Te Tipua Hall on the corner of Waimumu and Glendhu Roads. We are open from 10am to 4 pm daily; entry is $5 at the door; eftpos is available.
The Exhibition is known for its friendly, relaxed and warm atmosphere.
