Waitangi Day is back on Porirua’s waterfront for the second year running and it promises to be a special event for residents and visitors alike.

Waitangi Day in Porirua takes place on the waterfront on Wi Neera Drive, with Porirua City Council partnering with mana whenua Ngāti Toa and Whitireia New Zealand to deliver a fun-filled event, one of the largest in the country, on our national day. The theme of the day will be Whiti Te Rā, which means “Into the sunlight”.

There is a main entertainment stage that will feature Ardijah as the headline act, along with creative and cultural activities to be involved in across the event, including traditional weaving and carving, flag making, creation stations, Te Reo based activations and much more!

Waka tours are back! You’ll have the opportunity to pick up a paddle and get out on Te Awarua o Porirua Harbour in a local waka.

There'll be plenty of delicious food options to satisfy your puku from quality vendors, all of which have a zero waste kaupapa.
