The Waitaria Bay tri+ is a fun sporting event for all and for all ages. It is held in Waitaria Bay in the Kenepuru Sound, smack in the middle of the scenic Marlborough Sounds. 2019 will the 11th consecutive year this event has been organised.

The event consists of two parts:
Red Deer Junior Tri

Categories:
10 yrs and older
under 10 years
(under 6 yrs of age individual or 3 members to a team)

Course:
Start in the grounds of Waitaria Bay Estate – opposite the starting point of the main event.

10 yrs and over - 2km bike - 1km run - 50m swim
Under 10 years - bike circuit - run circuit - 50m swim

Entry is free but need signed Entry Form.
Spot prizes for this event – you must be at the Waitaria Bay Hall at 1.30 pm to receive your prize.

Categories: Individual
2 person team
Family team up to 4 (at least 1 member must be 18 yrs or younger.
60+ yrs team (up to 4 members to a team permitted).

Entry fees: Individual fee - $15
Team fee - $20

Start at the foreshore opposite 5732 Kenepuru Road, Waitaria Bay

Course:
Start at the foreshore opposite 5732 Kenepuru Road, Waitaria Bay
3 km Kayak - from foreshore out into the Bay, around the pink buoy and back to foreshore
8 km Cycle - on tar seal up to Breaburn, then back past the school and in the direction of
Manaroa to turn point and back to Waitaria Bay transition area
4 km Run - along foreshore on road towards Braeburn to turning point and then return to transition area plus 50 metres Swim - is from this area out and around buoys and then return finishing in transition area.

- Mateen Jenkins Memorial Trophy
1st individual woman home

- Zieglers Cup
1st individual man home

- Sports Family of The Year Cup
Team must include at least 1 child (18 yrs or under) up to 4 in team

‘Why Not’ Trophy - 1st individual to finish over the age of 60

Afternoon activities.
(For all to enjoy (not just competitors)).

BBQ (incl burgers/salad) and tea/coffee will be available at the Waitaria Bay Hall from 12:30pm (see website for prizes).

Bar with juice sales/BYO alcohol.

Spot prizes presented to competitors of both events at the social afternoon at the Waitaria Bay Hall 1.30pm.

NB: You must be present to receive your spot prize.
Adjacent swimming pool for use (children must be supervised).
Waitaria Bay School showers are available for competitors’ use.

Come along and have a great time, and either join in the fun or support this event. Make this a family day out and then stay on for the afternoon and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

Use the Peloris Mailboat from Havelock for easy and cheap access to Waitaria Bay (see website for more information).
