With 42 live acts, 12 DJ’s, 12 hours and 3 stages, the 8th Waitati Music Festival is the place to be on Saturday March 9th.
A fabulous array of Music, Food, Poetry, Art, Comedy & Fun is planned which celebrates the diversity our creative city. Bring your whanau, be entertained and chill out for the day. Three stages feature live bands from 11am -11pm, with a soulful, reggae & funky flavor.
Local favorites Tahu and the Takahes play alongside Julian Temple Band, Soul Kitchen, Koizilla, Whiskey & the Wench and many many more. The Mini Rave zone showcases some of Dunedin’s electronic dance music producers & DJ’s playing techno, dubstep, drum and bass and electro. The Poet Pallet hosts comedians, poets & MC’s alongside acoustic, punk and rock bands. There will be something for all ages.
Many food stalls are available selling delicious kai including sushi, jacket potatoes, street food, churros & coffee. You are also welcome to bring a picnic. The kidszone is a huge children’s area provides the opportunity to create art & play and includes face painting, giant bubbles & painting on a vehicle! Visual artists display their craft and often encourage participation. A graffiti artist sprays live. Bring a cotton T shirt and get the music festival design screen-printed on or learn how to screen print.
This festival is not for profit and is organized by volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year grant writing and fundraising so that the entry fee can be kept to a minimum. This year pre-sale tickets, available through iTicket.co.nz can be purchased for only $22 (no booking fee), tickets on the gate are $30.
