Wellington International Pride Parade is a colourful and inclusive reflection of our great city, NZ’s creative Capital and the incredible cultural diversity within it – and brings together people from across Aotearoa New Zealand to celebrate our rainbow communities.

This annual public event is a visual extravaganza involving a cross-section of members of our wider community marching, dancing, singing together to celebrate the acceptance of diversity in New Zealand. Both walking groups and floats will feature in this annual event.

2019 Parade Theme / Kaupapa:
The theme for the 2019 parade is fire; ignite your passion for your community - Ahi; hei whakaatu i to hiahia mo to hapori.

2019 Parade Rescheduled:
Following the events in Christchurch on 15 March, the parade has been rescheduled from 16 March to Saturday, 11 May. The time of day will be brought forward to the afternoon to accommodate for the shorter daylight hours, with the parade kicking off at 3pm.

The parade route will remain the same, from Courtenay Place, turning into Taranaki Street to the waterfront. Some of the pre-parade entertainment will also brought forward and we will publish an updated programme soon.

Entertainment:
Some fantastic entertainment will be showcased before the parade kicks off, including Orchestra Wellington, singers, dancers and of course drag queens. Check out the programme for time and location details.

Rain Day:
While a bit of rain won't stop us going ahead on 11 May, if bad weather means we can't proceed on 11 May, we have a rain day scheduled for Sunday, 12 May.

This event couldn't happen without the support of Wellington City Council and our many sponsors and supporters.
