Fredrick Kpakpo Addo is a Ghanaian master dancer, drummer, multi-instrumentalist (vocals, drums, flute, percussion) and choreographer based in Victoria, Australia. Fred grew up in a traditional spiritual royal family in Nungua, Accra, Ghana, surrounded by drumming, dance, singing and rituals performed by his grandmother who was a traditional fetish priest. Fred’s upbringing infused him with a deep respect and understanding of his traditional culture, and a deep desire to share this with the world. He has over 26 years’ experience in performance and teaching, and has toured in Sweden, Israel, 22 states of USA and many African countries.

In addition, Fred has worked with professional dance companies such as Nokoba Dance Company, Kusum Ensemble and the Anunyam Traditional Music and Dance Troupe. In 2008 Fred formed his own professional ensemble called Mumo Kome (“One Spirit”) in Ghana, recorded and launched his debut album in 2013, and migrated to Australia in 2014 where he continues to lead his band and drumming and dance company, One Spirit Africa.

In 2016 Fred hosted a peace festival in Nungua, Accra, Ghana, called Womba Africa, aiming to showcase local talent and recollect the tradition. Fred facilitates annual cultural exchange tours to Ghana, hosting students from Australia, America and Europe, and supports underprivileged people in Nungua with his creative teaching and personal finances. Fred teaches community groups in Torquay and Altona.

He also leads drumming and dance workshops in primary and secondary schools, kindergartens and colleges throughout Victoria and he performs regularly in community and corporate events and festivals. Fred works tirelessly to promote important issues such as Human Rights, Peace and Multiculturalism through voluntary performances and campaign appearances at various events. Fred is a United Nations Peace Ambassador and he is passionate about promoting peace and unity through tradition.
