The Republic of Whangamomona is celebrating 30 years of independence!
Whangamomona Republic Day is on Saturday 19 January 2019. As a community we come together and put on a great fun filled day rich in history, traditions and the new. Many of the attractions are not seen anywhere else in this way. Our theme this year is Pioneer, taking us back to how it used to be in the Pioneer Days. There will be stalls, food, demos and activities and the amazing sheep race that is a sight to see.
We have the hotly contested election of the President, currently John Herlihy, lets see who will be his opposition this year, it is rumoured that Eunice the sheep, who resides at Whanga Bridge House will be his toughest competition?! Fundraising gained goes towards Marco School, Health group, many clubs and especially our Youth in the villages.
We are always so grateful to our volunteers, sponsors, supporters and visitors... Thank you so much and we hope we will see you on the 19th!
