Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.
This course will start on Wednesday 31 July 2019 and will run over three Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:30pm.
Islamic societies and the media have often portrayed a negative image of Muslim women, leaving many with misconceptions, perceptions, and questions about woman’s status in Islam. This course will explore basic beliefs and principles in regards to Muslim women’s rights, duties, and responsibilities in Islam.
By looking at Qur’anic verses, and Hadith (a traditional account of things said or done by Muhammad or his companions) as well as various texts and videos this course will help you gain a deeper understanding into women’s status in Islam.
About the tutor, Reem Ayuub: As a young Muslim woman, who has experienced life in the middle east and the west, I have come to make sense of both worlds. Islam being the fastest growing religion yet the most misrepresented has created much interest in the past decade.
Our Mission: To provide quality adult and lifelong learning opportunities which empower individuals in their personal lives and as members of society.
