Womens Caring and Connection in Disaster Management

Speaker Ann-Marie Houng Lee:
Ann-Marie has a post-grad in emergency-management and is a member of the International Network of Women & Disaster-Management. She was born and bred in Whakatani and worked in Tsunami Readiness for the Bay of Plenty.

On her relocation to Northland 4 years ago she worked on Community Resilience and Disaster Readiness and Recovery for the Far North.

Ann-Marie came to emergency management through her work at Search and Rescue as a Team Leader and Dog Handler. She still volunteers for S&R but her dog has retired.

Ann-Marie will address the experiences of women’s responses to disaster and the lead messages emergency response services have taken away from the Christchurch earthquakes.
