The Sugar Club will once again offer an entirely vegan menu for World Vegan Day, to celebrate and shine a spotlight on plant-based dining. The all-day affair will feature three new dishes, two of which will also be low carbon.
On Friday 1 November, guests will enjoy an exclusive five-course vegan tasting menu for lunch and dinner, with an optional vegan beverage pairing.
The Sugar Club has a distinguished 33-year history of challenging the culinary status quo, that last year saw the top Auckland restaurant announce its inaugural plant based menu.“World Vegan Day is a wonderful opportunity for my talented team at The Sugar Club to continue to challenge perceptions around vegan dining” says Peter Gordon, The Sugar Club’s Executive Chef. “It’s an incredible way to show our support for a philosophy that I feel we need to focus on as an industry moving forward.”
The hero dish will take inspiration from the plant-based creation that landed junior sous-chef, Giada Grilli, in the semi final of the San Pellegrino Young Chef Awards this year. The zero-waste plate titled ‘last night a pumpkin saved my life’ will feature on the all-vegan menu, with the main ingredient substituted for native kūmara.
“Whether you’re vegan or not, come along, put your preconceptions aside and enjoy a lunch or dinner with us!” says Gordon.
