Start with wonderful views over Little River, Port Levy and the surrounding hills. First stop - morning tea at the tōtara graveyard – a great favourite with kids. Then visit a healthy living tōtaras forest plus a new tōtara forest in the making. Descend to Rod Donald Hut for a leisurely lunch. Play on the bunks, create artworks on the blackboard and plan your own family adventures on Banks Peninsula. Learn more about the Rod Donald Banks Peninsula Trust and its vision to develop environmental guardians of the future. This walk is suitable for families. Children need to be able walk up approximately 20 minute fairly steep climb after lunch.
Duration: 4-5 hours, climbs 100m, length 5kms.
WALK/TRAMP - Partly formed or unformed tracks, with some or prolonged up and down.
Wear tramping boots or sturdy walking shoes. Bring lunch, snacks, water bottle, sunhat, sunscreen, weatherproof gear and hand sanitiser.
Covid 19 - All participants are required to carry their own hand sanitiser. If at Alert Level 2 please bring your own face mask to wear in any instance where appropriate social distancing may not be easily maintained (car pools etc). The Festival will be cancelled at Alert Level 3 & 4 and you will be issued a refund.
