Help us to create an unexpectedly connected community story.

Studio2, a creative space for local artists with disabilities, brings this project to you.

Storytelling describes the social and cultural activity of sharing stories, hearing different voices and connecting with each other. Stories function as a tool to pass on learning and knowledge within our communities. A really good story engages our emotions, curiosity and imagination.

At Studio2 we love sharing and hearing stories. They help us to learn about each other and how we exist differently in the world. With this in mind, we decided to engage with our wider communities through a collaborative game to celebrate the different ways of sharing and interpreting experiences.

We invite you to... tell fantastic tales, amazing memories or whatever comes to mind at the time, each person is encouraged to write or draw anything they like the only rule is it has to begin with the words “And then... ” The next person to stumble upon one of the 10 story boxes will contribute something of their own and so on.

Specially made depository boxes by the artists of Studio2 will be placed around the city for people to write their piece of the story, And Then... is where the next person takes over. The boxes will collect all of the writing contributed by our communities. On the final Friday of the Fringe Festival (27th March) we will reveal and build our story at the South Dunedin Community Pop-up library from 2pm – 3pm. This will be a fun way to end the story and a nice opportunity to meet some of the storytellers who contributed throughout the festival. All are welcome to attend this free event.

And Then... is a storytelling improv game where you can contribute towards the growth of a community wide story. Please keep in mind – you can be as serious or silly as you like!

Note: The various locations of the boxes will be available via the Fringe HQ and the Studio2 Facebook page.
