Audio Foundation

Audio Foundation presents a night of collaborative improvisation from different sides of the earth: Annette Krebs in musical dialogue with local composer maestro Antonia Barnett-McIntosh for an evening of improvisatory musical dialogues, and performance from Clovis McEvoy.

Annette Krebs
Annette Krebs is one of Europe’s leading exponents of live electro-acoustic music. Based in Berlin, Krebs’ explorations of the small details of sound synthesize strategies borrowed from instrumental, chamber-music with digitally mediated approaches and techniques. Working across performance, installation of and sonic, sculptural assemblages, a recurrent trait of Krebs’ activities is the amplification of small sounds (voice, objects), which, much like the microscopic, take on new life when moved across scale.

Annette Krebs appears in New Zealand with thanks to the Goethe-Institut.

Antonia Barnett-McIntosh
Antonia Barnett-McIntosh is a composer, performer, sound artist and freelance curator. Her compositional concerns lie in the specificity of sound gestures and their variation, translation and adaptation. She employs chance-based and procedural operations to devise works that involve elements of slippage and forced failure, the live space and improvisation.

Antonia’s works with words investigate speech as music: the pitches, rhythms, conversational overlaps of our everyday. She is interested in working across disciplines and has collaborated extensively with musicians, theatre and filmmakers, dancers, visual artists and poets.

Antonia was the 2018/2019 Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music Composer-in-Residence and is currently residing in Auckland, New Zealand.

Clovis McEvoy
Clovis McEvoy is a 29-year-old freelance composer, lecturer, sound engineer and music journalist based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Clovis currently lectures at Auckland University School of Music in the field of sonic arts and music production and, as part of his teaching practice, specializes in sound design for film and game, composing for game, and live electronics. He has had work performed in New Zealand via the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and internationally at IRCAM (France) and at the Seoul International Computer Music Festival.

Doors at 8PM.
