Chess Power is a New Zealand based company full of people passionate about Chess! Our purpose is to share our passion of Chess with the children of New Zealand and help Grow Kids Minds!

A fun, social Chess Tournament just for kids aged 4 to 18.

Following the announcement that NZ will be moving to level 4, all our events will be run online until further notice.

We will be hosting our Sarapu Cup tournaments that were due to take place on Sunday the 5th of April as a combined online tournament. Details below.

Registration is still mandatory for the online tournament in order to secure your place.

Format
Pawns, Knights, Bishops, Rooks and Kings Divisions - Five 7 round Swiss tournaments with a time control of 15 minutes for each player. Each game lasts 30 minutes maximum.

Entry Requirements
You will need to be a member of the ChessPowerNZ club on ChessKid.com. You can check which clubs you belong to by logging in to ChessKid.com and clicking Clubs on the left menu. If you are not a member and would like to be please follow these Adding a Guardian instructions.

You can only join the tournament 15 minutes before the tournament starts or later but it is important you arrive before the event is scheduled to start.
Timetable

Player Check-In: from 12:45pm
Start Time: 1:00pm
Finish Time: Approximately 5:30pm

The tournament starts at 1.00 p.m. Please ensure you are online by 12:45pm for tournament registration.

Prizes
Trophies & Medals will be posted to winners.
- 1st overall in each division wins a trophy to keep. First in each Age Group within each division wins a special medal to keep

- 1st in the Kings Divison wins a special trophy to keep. 2nd and 3rd places in the Kings Division wins a special medal to keep. There are no age group prizes in the Kings division.

- Rooks divison winner + Rooks division age group winners + Kings division 1st, 2nd & 3rd gain entry into the Premier Division of the Auckland Sarapu Cup Championship tournament at the end of the year

- The top 3 players in the Kings Division qualify to compete in the Chess Power Champions Trophy 2020

Eligibility
The Sarapu Cup is open to all players between 4 and 18. No adults are allowed to play.

Playing Fair
Using chess engines is strictly prohibited. Anybody caught cheating by using chess engines will be disqualified from participating in all Chess Power events for life.

Rating
All games will be rated using the Chess Power ratings system. To check your rating visit Tornelo.

Entry fees
$27 per entry if paying for the next event one month in advance (Early bird 10% discount)
$30 per entry if prepaid
$35 per entry if paid on the day (late entry)

Can't make this event?
The next April Online Sarapu Cup (which will also be a combined tournament) will take place on the 19th of April.
