Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ) would love you to join us at one of our community planting days at our restoration project at Atiu Creek Regional Park on the Kaipara Harbour in partnership with Auckland Council and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

This event is part of Conservation Week 2020.

On Sunday 16th August, we will be planting up to 2,000 natives trees and shrubs followed by a veggie sausage sizzle. This promises to be fun day out and a great opportunity to see this stunning park and give back to your local environment.

Atiu Creek was officially opened to the public as a regional park in April 2008 and has extensive harbour frontage with large tracts of native forest supporting a range of flora and fauna. In addition to 450ha of rolling grassed land, the park contains a number of significant areas of kanuka, totara, kauri and mature pohutakawa forest and wetlands in the gullies. The park provides habitat for the nationally threatened New Zealand dabchick and brown teal.

CVNZ has a full time presence at Atiu Creek and is committed to protecting and restoring the biodiversity of this stunning park. This winter alone, we will be planting at least 30,000 native trees at this park and we need all the help we can get! For this event, we will provide transportation from Auckland (meeting time 8am, return by 4.30pm) or you can choose to meet us on site. Bookings are essential as spots are limited.
