Part of our continuing Burgundy Passport series, we move to the southernmost region, the charming hills of Beaujolais. In this class, our resident Master of Wine, Stephen Wong will be bringing you up to date with the latest developments in the region, the change in viticulture and winemaking which has taken Beaujolais out of the darkness of the 80s and 90s into the sought-after, fashionable region it is today.
No Beaujolais class would be complete without looking at the seminal styles of the founding domaines of the natural wine movement, but as importantly, how they have also changed over the recent years. Classic crus and climats will illustrate the immense increase in quality here as terroir conversations return to the forefront of this exciting (and still relatively affordable) region.
Producers being tasted include:
J.-P. Thevenet, Jean Foillard, M. & C. Lapierre, J.-C. Lapalu, Julien Sunier, Domaine Chapel, Yvon Métras, Johan Lardy and more!
