Book Launch and Exhibition by Alan Squires

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the official book launch and exhibition "Whangarei" by well regarded local landscape photographer, Alan Squires.

"Whangarei" Squires first substantial publication, is a celebration of the region through his eyes, from Langs to Whangaruru. With a combination of both colour and black & white images of rural and coastal scenes, "Whangarei" is a unique photographic journey of some of his most favourite views.

"The maritime setting of Whangarei beguiles with an ever changing bustling harbour and a varied-dramatic coastline with glorious beaches. I’ve spent many a day on the sand at the height of summer and not seen a soul, and I like that." says Squires.

With an exceptional eye for capturing the dramatic, self taught photographer Squires has spent the last eight years creating an extensive visual document of the region and establishing his photography business in central Whangarei. His personal connection to Whangarei is evident in his work and he is a proud supporter of local business. "Both the book and limited edition archival prints featured in the exhibition are printed right here is Whangarei! How great is that!"

Alan will be in the gallery at the opening event to personally sign copies of the book. He is also holding an artist talk in the gallery on Saturday 15th February at 11am. All welcome to attend.
