This 4-week Business English course will help you to increase your English language proficiency in order to gain confidence in your professional communication. The course will provide you with business language skills in order to participate with increasing independence and fluency in professional contexts in English.

This could include:
- Liaising over the telephone
- Conducting professional presentations
- Leading team and client meetings
- Negotiating with colleagues
- Discussing data and evaluating performance

Emphasis is placed on essential employability skills; in particular, on the four main skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing, all from a business perspective. A strong focus is also placed on raising awareness of cultural differences in international business and how to manage these.

Taking the Business English course at the ELA will ensure you obtain valuable skills specifically tailored to your background and level of experience. Lessons will be primarily classroom based, with online practice for every unit, supplemented with practical activities which could include a visit to the University of Auckland’s Business School, guest speakers from local industries and company visits.
