A genre defying songstress of blues soul and country rock - Catherine Tunks with her “bona fide
band of Brothers” are redefining what NZ has to come to know as the country blues genre with
their rock n roll edge stemming from their thoroughbred west Auckland roots.

Mixing in a little black magic and gospel, and find yourself on a road trip through the land where
the boundaries of Blues, Americana, Gospel and 70's Country Rock become one, with the boys in
the backseat - and mama firmly at the steering wheel ”

In the style of big voiced gals with attitude, one can hear influences from Bonnie Raitt, Susan
Tedeschi, Etta James to Emmy Lou Harris - a long dusty road away from Tunks’ days of the
jazz/soul style with her former group Black Sand Diva. A self described musical gypsy, she has
performed and recorded in Ireland, Germany, the Sth pacific and from Nashville to New York –
receiving two songwriting award nominations, releasing three acclaimed albums and an EP along
the way.

With the iconic sound of gun slinging guitarist Gavin Dowling leading the band and a heavyweight
rhythm section – Cat and her ‘Bona Fide’ boys are currently touring Nationwide throughout 2020
on the Stranger Album release Tour.
