This is a special return to Kumeu Live for Cathie Harrop who will play on her harp accompanied by her daughter and son, Jennie and Dave Khan.

Cathie Harrop started playing the harp when she was 12 years old and has never stopped.
At 16 her teacher Dorethea Franchi arranged for her to make her first record singing Irish songs with her own harp accompaniment followed by two albums of Songs for Children before Cathie left to study at the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin Ireland.

Within two months of arriving in Dublin Cathie was invited to sing at the All Ireland Football final before a live crowd of 80,000. This led to a new recording contract which led to several hit singles, two albums and extensive touring.

Cathie moved to Britain where she continued with a major recording studio and worked extensively in Radio, TV and in live performances.

On returning to New Zealand Cathie established herself with a long-running Children's TV show, light entertainment programs, and touring nationwide with the NZ Army Band.

She also developed strong links with Radio NZ broadening her range of special projects to include the songs of Dory Previn and Marianne Faithful with the humour of English comedian Joyce Grenfell and early NZ Victorian music.

For her concert at Kumeu Live on 28th of November, Cathie will draw from her large varied repertoire, songs not usually heard with harp and string accompaniment.
She will be supported by her daughter and son Jennie Khan (cellist) and Dave Khan (multi-string player) both well-known professional musicians, who are adept at interpreting and performing an extraordinary range of musical genres.
