Beginners Ceramic Workshop: Throw a bowl, slipcast a cup and slab build a planter.
Have you ever thought about giving ceramics a go?
Then get ready to roll up your sleeves and prepare to get your hands dirty! This full day workshop will cover basic ceramic techniques to inspire you on your journey with clay. You will learn wheel throwing basics, hand building (slab-building) and slip casting techniques in this fun and informative course.
Kaolin founders Rachel Carter and Kate McIntyre will be sharing their knowledge gained over their 10 year ceramic careers. Both are experienced tutors, having taught courses at Auckland Studio Potters and private workshops.
If you’ve never worked with clay before, this class is for you! People with some pottery experience are also welcome.
Class size is limited to eight students. The course will be located in the picturesque Kaolin headquarters (aka Rachel’s Studio) in beautiful Titirangi, Auckland.
The course fee includes all clay, materials and firing. Also included is a delicious vegetarian lunch, served with a glass of wine if you so desire! You will come away with up to three pieces, a wheel thrown pot, a hand built piece and a slip cast cup. We will fire and glaze these for you ready for collection two weeks after the course.
