Tutors bring their own personal movement vocabularies and choreographic styles, whilst teaching well-respected internationally-influenced techniques with a special New Zealand flavour.
Floor work, exercises and combinations are built on each week, enabling students to explore their own movement style and creativity.
Teaching artist Rose Philpott is a graduate of the Unitec Dance programme (BPSA Contemporary Dance) and has been working as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher for the past 8 years. Rose is a long term collaborator of Foster Group and is co-Artistic Director of SOFT.co with Jessie McCall. Rose has performed throughout New Zealand for Sarah Foster-Sproull, Footnote NZ Dance, Okareka Dance Company, Malia Johnston, World Of Wearable Art and Claire O'Neil among others. Rose was the recipient of the Eileen May Norris Dance Scholarship (2016) and won the Paul Jenden Costume Designer of the Year award alongside Tori Manly-Tapu for Foster Group’s Orchids (2019). Rose is a lecturer at The University of Auckland and is currently studying towards her Bachelor of Honours in Dance Studies. She brings an in-depth knowledge of dance techniques and performance along with imagination and a sense of play to her classes.
