The workshop; Give all your genre work genuine authenticity. Choose a genre you really wish to investigate before the workshop date, read and watch as much as you can of that genre then come and get ready to inhabit that landscape. Language, characters, storylines, themes and more will all be investigated in this workshop which is about identifying key markers to bring whatever world you want vividly to life.
The teacher: Penny Ashton has been improvising since 1987 or 72% of her life. She is a Long Form genre devotee (Austen Found, Enid Untold, Oliver Twisted). A professional with Auckland ConArtists since 1999 Penny has travelled the world with short form and long form improv. She has represented NZ at the World Cup of Improv in Germany in 2006 and was an Improvaganza Master of the Universe in Edmonton in 2003. She has originated numerous long form improvised musicals and plays with the most successful being Austen Found: The Undiscovered Musicals of Jane Austen, which sold out the Adelaide Fringe and the NZ International Comedy Festival.
Prerequisite: Intermediate (3 – 4 years of improv/acting experience)
