Proximity, a visceral portrait of modern surfing. This film follows eight of the world’s best surfers as they search for new waves and deeper understanding in exotic destinations. From 11-time world champion Kelly Slater and champion John Florence, to big wave icon Shane Dorian and breakthrough performer Albee Layer, with six-time women’s champ and legend Stephanie Gilmore, radical activist Dave Rastovich, and style masters Rob Machado and Craig Anderson completing the cast.
Rated G (55min)
We’ll also be screening as our pre-film entertainment, these exceptional short surf films:
Smile and Wave – Georgia Matts (Australia) 23 min. In a time when female surf movies are far and few between and tend to feature bikinis and lifestyle over skill and style in the surf, “Smile and Wave” aims to bring the focus back to highlighting the tremendous surfing abilities of female surfers.
The Guero – Jacopo Cosmelli (Italy) 3 min. Follow Italian surfer Alessandro Ponzanelli as he searches for golden sunrises and endless right point breaks in The Baja California Peninsula.
Lights down inside the Village Cinema from 7.30pm
Licensed Event *Whilst our events are +18, as these featured films are rated G, minors are welcome to join us, accompanied by a parent/responsible guardian.
