Calm abiding meditation combined with the wish for enlightenment motivated by great compassion for all sentient beings.

This retreat is ideal for those who would like to open their hearts wider and learn, embrace or deepen the powerful and practical skill of shamatha/calm abiding mediation which is the development of a focused and concentrated mind.

The meditations on shamatha will be guided and focused first on the breath, gradually moving to being mindful of mental activity and moving even subtler inwardly to being mindful of awareness of awareness. The meditations on Bodhichitta, the altruistic open and good heart of enlightenment, will be based around the two traditional methods of developing Bodhichitta within Tibetan Buddhism.

This retreat will have a strong focus on being mindful of our motivations and how to transform them into being compassionate and wise ones. The retreat will include full days in silence and will allow participants to build a regular practice. Students are advised to have a notebook.
