On the eve of closing Candice Lin’s first solo exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere, join Elaine Shen Rollins as she walks us through this debut survey of works by Los Angeles-based artist Candice Lin.
Elaine Shen Rollins brings a unique lens to her curator tour as a Chinese American Kiwi. Having migrated from China to the United States, and settling here in Aotearoa, Rollins says she can relate to Lin’s stories of migration and racialised language on a personal level.
“Like Candice I, too, don’t speak Chinese. It was my first language and I now feel an ongoing loss of culture and language in my identity” says Rollins. She has been proud to be part of the curatorial team for this exhibition and for the opportunity it has provided to connect with her own roots in a new way through Lin’s work.
This is the last opportunity to take a curator’s tour through the exhibition before it closes on 15 November.
