We are living in ‘The Age of anxiety and emotional distress’. 1 in 5 people in NZ feels anxious nearly all of the time or has experienced psychological distress in the last 4 weeks. Mental distress is the third-leading cause of health loss in NZ affecting more women than men, younger than older people*.

This initiative, aimed at 15-25-year-olds, provides an understanding of how science pervades all aspects of life including nature to human development, and ultimately apply this to the study of the components that generate wellbeing.

This is a laboratory-like experience where we are provided with space for observation, reflection, questions and answers during this 3-day workshop, using meditative reasoning as an anchor for self-reflection.

The first part of the workshop facilitates participants to investigate and observe the science of natural ecosystems to understand how these organisms manifest as the result of certain causes and conditions.

The second part studies the ecosystem of the human mind by examining the impact on how emotions manifest in our daily life. By investigating the psychology of meditation from an integral perspective, the aim is to shine a light on the many unexamined assumptions in relation to how we think.

Outcomes:
- Enhance observation and discernment about outer (natural) and inner (mind) ecosystems and how they interact.
- Increase awareness of how the mind functions and how it relates to our sense of wellbeing.
