We have opened up a ataata film competition for school-aged tauira students in years 1 to 13 to show us a video portrayal of Antarctica from a new perspective. Students will be putting together a 3-minute film illustrating Antarctica with fresh eyes.

Antarctica is our last great wilderness - it is a taonga treasure to be protected. By sharing new stories and perspectives of the frozen continent, this competition aims to draw a deeper public appreciation and understanding for Antarctica here in Aotearoa New Zealand, and across the globe.

This event will celebrate the six winners of the competition, both individuals and teams, and will be hosted by an Antarctic explorer who will also be sharing their experiences visiting Antarctica and what it means to them.

The six winners of the competition will be invited to Ōtautahi Christchurch to attend this screening of their films!

Nau mai haere mai! Register now to attend this chilling and thrilling portrayal of an Antarctica never before explored.
