Launching on the 8th October, Akaroa Museum Te Whare Taonga presents an on-line exhibition of drawings by Antarctic hero Frank Worsley (1872-1943).
Worsley first won fame in 1916 by navigating the tiny boat James Caird through the Southern ocean, saving the men of Shackleton’s Trans-Antarctic Expedition. This exhibition delves into the creative side of this famous explorer’s character.
Take a moment to consider his sketches and his idea of beauty – a clipper ship ‘with studding sails alow and aloft’ – and the immensity of icebergs.
