This talk is idea for those who are beginning your whakapapa journey.

Manukau Lewis will focus on those who have lost touch of knowledge of whom their tuupuna were (ancestors) and those whom have tuupuna Maaori, but don’t know how and where to start their rangahau (research). He will offer tips and advice and recommendations on what resources and non-institutional repositories are helpful to your research. He won’t use the kupu “tikanga”, as he is reluctant to say these are so, since whakapapa is such a personal thing for those whom are Māori.

Although he is aware and familiar with sources for most waka and iwi groupings, and specialising in Tainui waka, Manukau has some knowledge of most founders of Te Arawa hapuu/iwi.

This is Family History Month event from Te Aka Mauri.

Koha (donation) appreciated.
