AFTER MUNICH
Director: Francine Zuckerman | 78 min | 2019 | Canada, Germany, Israel, Sweden, UK

The aftermath of the Munich Olympic massacre of eleven Israeli athletes in 1972 and how four women’s lives were changed forever.

Doc Edge is excited to present an exclusive screening of AFTER MUNICH this month. It will be followed by post-screening talk with director, Francine Zuckerman who's visiting Auckland.

September 5th 1972, the tenth day of the Munich Olympics, the Palestinian terrorist group Black September stormed the Israeli athletes’ quarters. The world watched live on television as 11 hostages were taken and later killed.

For the first time, this story is told through the eyes of four women directly impacted by that day: An athlete, a widow, and two undercover agents. Their fates redirected. Their well-being and views impacted by the trauma.

It’s a story of intrigue; secret identities; love and death; conflict and reconciliation; war and peace.

Esther Roth Shahamorov, was going to compete to become Israel’s fastest runner. She lost her dream that day, but survived and became a role model for the next generation.

Ankie Spitzer, the widow of murdered athlete Andre Spitzer has spent over forty years fighting to keep her husband’s memory alive and make sure the world never forgets.

Sylvia Raphael, a high-level Mossad agent who joined a clandestine mission to find the killers.

Marianne Gladnikoff, the reluctant Mossad agent who never recovered from the mission in Norway to assassinate the terrorists responsible.
