The Dog Point Classic Kiwi Picnic is a fun, relaxing day set amongst the vines and olives trees of Dog Point Vineyard. An annual event that started with a single picnic table, it is now in its twelfth year with approximately 140 guests in attendance enjoying delicious Marlborough fare matched to Dog Point Vineyard wine.
We are partnering with chef Bradley Hornby and Liz Buttimore from Marlborough’s Arbour restaurant focusing on local Marlborough regional produce. Fresh seafood, premium meats, seasonal salads, homemade desserts and organically grown produce from the Dog Point Vineyard vegetable garden, ensure no one is left wanting.
The picnic concept aims to recreate the traditional ‘kiwi picnic’ with dishes that are true to the picnic theme and carefully matched to Dog Point’s four wines; two styles of Sauvignon Blanc, one of which is an alternative style of barrel fermented sauvignon (Section 94), a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir.
Guests also have the opportunity to try our library release wines over the course of the afternoon, while loungers placed in the shade of the surrounding trees offer a tempting place to rest and recover while listening to the background sounds of Marlborough’s singer-songwriter, Sarah Brown and Estella.
Everything about the picnic is convivial with the Dog Point Vineyard and Arbour teams having as much fun as the guests; this is a celebration of everything that makes the kiwi style of picnic unique and special.
