Doughnut Economics is a wake-up call to transform our worldview obsessed with growth into a more balanced, sustainable perspective.

Each month, DEAR holds a free, open monthly meetup for anyone who would like to hear about doughnut economics and the people who are actively advocating doughnut economics in New Zealand. You are invited to attend and find out what the buzz is all about.

This month, Paul Gilberd, the General Manager at Community Finance, will speak about his role in providing finance for community housing. The focus of Community Finance is to provide finance that advances community housing outcomes rather than profit. By reducing profit margins to people seeking finance, Community Finance advances social and environmental outcomes.

Paul will provide a brief overview of the current state of the NZ housing system and identify the key systemic blockages that exist. What is 'community housing"? Is it different from public housing? He will tell us about who are the players in the market. He will provide his views about why New Zealand now finds itself 50,000 homes short.

Paul says: "I think we might be a Doughnut company – but open to feedback on that front…".

There will be a Q and A after his presentation and you are invited to participate.

For more info see the DEAR page.
