Dusty and The Sepia Tones are set for a very special and rare performance at the Levin Folk Music Club on Friday, 13 November 2020. Doors open at 7 pm and club regulars will open with a one-song each blackboard. After a light supper and raffles, Dusty, Emily and Michael will perform a terrific set.

Working as a sideman in too many acts to list but including Tui Award Winners The Frank Burkitt Band, T-Bone, Kim and Dusty and The Federal String Band, multi-instrumentalist Dusty Burnell is usually seen slinging a range of string instruments and singing harmonies.

Very occasionally when the stars align and the right venue comes along, Dusty indulges in a rare desire to take the spotlight, calls in the favours to put together extremely beloved and talented musicians and treats audiences to a one-off show.

Joining him will be Lightnin Mike Muggeridge whose pedigree and name can be traced to the mystical elders of the Taranaki Folk tradition. Raised in the shadow of the mountain he is steeped in the music and traditions of his ancestors. Audiences often comment that he appears possessed on stage, exuding energy and musical genius, unlike any other performer.

Fiddler, wild child and reincarnated celtic fairy Emily Griffiths will be making her debut as a Sepia Tone although she will be no stranger to folkies who will have witnessed her stellar performances as a member of Vic Folk and winner of the Joan Pryor award. (Hide your Whisky)

The Sepia Tones will be playing an eclectic mix of original and traditional tunes guaranteed to leave you emotionally drained yet content. With lightning-fast bluegrass, heart-wrenching ballads, jazz standards and down-home country blues you are probably going to want to take a sick day from work after this show. Woohoo!
