This visit, organised by the Auckland Inter-Faith Council, is part of Auckland Heritage Festival 2020 whose theme is "Uncovering the Secrets and stories of Tamaki Makaurau". Originally gifted on 18 September 1840 by Apihai Te Kawau of Ngati Whatua to Governor Hobson, in 1841 Bishop Pompallier received land from Gov. Hobson to build a Catholic church, which has served the needs of the community ever since. On a 'covid-level free' Sunday over 3000 worshippers regularly attend Mass here. Enjoy a guided tour and brief presentation on the history of this important landmark.
