Focus on Glass 2020 Exhibition is a new national glass exhibition celebrating glass art. Following the disruption of COVID-19 and cancellation of events, this is the first major open glass art exhibition in New Zealand since lockdown.
Over 60 works from across New Zealand in a variety of glass techniques, including kiln-forming, casting, blowing, flame-working, and other specialized techniques, will be exhibited. Exhibition work includes pieces from nationally and internationally renowned glass artists Garry Nash ONZM, David Traub, Evelyn Dunstan, Carmen Simmonds, Lisa Bate, Sue Hawker and Katie Brown. Works will be available for viewing online as well as in person at the gallery, with the majority of works available for sale through the gallery.
Official opening and award ceremony takes place, 4 – 6pm on Saturday 24 October, with an array of prizes to be awarded to artists, including a major award by the New Zealand Society of Artists in Glass (NZSAG) for their ‘Excellence In Glass’ prize.
