Getting Medicines Into the Brain

Dr Shakila Rizwan will be presenting her research on the delivery methods of pharmaceuticals to the brain including a look at how they are delivered in a healthy brain versus one with a neurological condition.

She is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy, University of Otago, with a special interest in the development of novel delivery systems that target drugs to the brain via the intranasal route and across the blood-brain barrier.
