Please note: We are not running any public tours before 1 June 2020. Tours after that date may be subject to cancellation.
Book to visit the home of the Governor-General of New Zealand. Tours run on selected dates. Government House was built in 1910 and is situated in 12ha of private grounds.
Tours explore the visitor centre, main house and (weather permitting) the gardens. Tours are free and fully guided. We have onsite parking and the house is wheelchair accessible.
Places on tours must be booked in advance. Groups of more than 6 can contact the visitor centre to arrange a private tour (bookings@govthouse.govt.nz). Entry to the property is only through the Hospital Road entrance (nearest bus stop is at Wellignton Hospital). ID required on entry. Tours are in English. NZ Sign language interpreters can be arranged (dependant on availability).
