NZ Barok

The health and welfare of our audience, musicians and communities is of the utmost importance to NZ Barok. As a result of the current Covid-19 lockdown in Auckland, NZ Barok has decided to effectively cancel the Hark, Sweet Music concerts Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th November 2021 at St. Luke’s Church, Remuera, Auckland with the hope of hosting the concert in October next year as part of a fresh 2022 NZ Barok Season.

NZ Barok: New Zealand's Baroque Orchestra

Music fit for Kings and Queens, Handel’s glorious Water Music and Purcell’s sparkling Fairy-Queen will entrance and entertain. Don’t miss the chance to hear these masterworks in all their shining glory on baroque instruments.

NZ Barok thanks Perpetual Guardian, Pub Charity, The Four Winds Foundation, Dame Jenny Gibbs, The Athena Trust and NZ Barok Supporters for their generous support of NZ Baroks’ 2021 Subscription Series.

Comprising leading baroque specialists from all over New Zealand, NZ Barok performs using instruments and playing styles of the period, breathing fresh life and vitality into baroque and classical masterpieces and lesser-known musical treasures from the 18th century.

“… authentic, classy and spirited performances… I certainly look forward to any future opportunities to hear NZ Barok.” - Tony Ryan, RNZ Concert

“NZ Barok are a revelation… the distinctive sound of their authentic instruments in perfect balance.” - Theatre Review
