When seeking to create a safe working environment and effective Health and Safety Management Plan, the correct identification of hazards is essential. While your team may have dedicated H&S officers, maintaining safety is an organisation wide commitment requiring all levels of staff to be involved.

This training module aims to give people the confidence to be more thoughtful and consider as to what could cause harm in their workplace. Traditionally Kiwis have been very much of the mind that, “the hammer could hurt me" Therefore "I need to be careful around hammers”. Instead this course seeks to change behaviour from considering the hammer as the hazard and instead assess the risk for each job consciously, rather than reverting to habitual behaviour that could lead to harm.

Your Learning Outcomes:

Participants will learn to identify hazards in their workplace through a rigorous, and codified process. This is typically undertaken by an external consultant however by empowering your staff to assess their workspace, you increase their commitment to your health and safety strategy
Participants learn that the harm is not the hazard but the outcome e.g. noise is not the hazard nor is the machine that emits the noise, but the hazard is poor maintenance of the machine
Participants get to use hazard reporting forms and learn what information is available on the WorkSafe website on hazard identification
Participants can rate themselves and their workplace against best practice with the end of course questionnaire

Course bundle:
This course will be bundled with the Risk Management 101 H&S training course. As such, this course is scheduled in the Morning with Risk 101 course in the afternoon of the same day in the same geographical location. It is possible to separate these across multiple days if you are under a time constraint.

Includes workbook, arrival tea or coffee and Morning tea.
