Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This holiday art workshop will run 10 AM - 3 PM on Thursday 1 October 2020. Tutor award-winning illustrator, author and art educator Sandra Morris is a committed nature journaller and loves the creativity of hand lettering involved in journalling.

As children are very aware of different fonts through their use of computers, this will be a good way to extend their understanding of theme-appropriate fonts and will teach them how to create their own.

Sandra will take children through the process of designing hand lettering to suit particular themes. They will experiment with different art materials to create and colour their hand lettering. These skills are useful for school projects or for independent creative journalling. Children will create their own journal page, using their own fonts and embellishing them with colour and glitter.

Expected learning outcomes:
- To understand different theme appropriate font styles
- To be able to think laterally around a theme
- To handle different art materials
- To create own fonts
- To understand the use of appropriate colour

What to bring: Bring a packed lunch and a water bottle. All materials are supplied for the course.

We offer a range of art, cooking, drama, technology and craft classes for children after school and during the holidays. Visit our website or search Eventfinda for details.

Our Mission:
