John Prine was an American country folk singer-songwriter. He was active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer from the early 1970s, and was known for an often humorous style of original music that has elements of protest and social commentary.
He played a sold out concert at Christchurch’s Theatre Royal early last year. He became a victim of COVID-19 and died April this year.
On September 18th at St Mary's Church, Addington we honour John Prine with 16 of his songs as performed by some of Christchurch's top musos:
Andy Thompson – Guitar and vocals
Liz Nichol – banjo and vocals
Blair Allchurch – guitars and vocals
Jeremy Brownbrooke – violin and mandolin
Barry Smith – bass guitar and vocals
Nigel Malthus – drums and percussion
Geoff Skinner – guitar and vocals
The concert starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 7.00pm. Please bring cash.
